The FAP was able to establish poster divisions in more than 17 states, and more than 2 million posters from approximately 35,000 designers were printed. The posters centered around some of America’s most important concerns. The New Deal agencies identified topics like recreation and leisure, health and disease, conservation, and public housing as central to the well-being and health of the citizens of the nation.
Americans were encouraged through these posters to place importance on knowledge, literacy, and education. These posters worked to promote unity and social reform. The government relied on educated citizens, education was integral to the success of the democratic government. The government believed that education gave the citizens the ability to adapt to and understand modern life.
